ABOUT ÁLMOS LÁSZLÓ TALLÓS

Álmos László Tallós, born in 2003, began his harp studies at the age of nine at a music school under the guidance of harp teacher Márta Szederkényi-Horváth. From 2017 to 2021, he continued his education at the Szent István Music Gymnasium, where his harp teacher was Deborah Sipkay. There, he deepened his knowledge in music literature, music theory, solfeggio, and composition. During this time, he also gained valuable experience in orchestral and chamber music playing. Since October 2021, he has been studying with Prof. Xavier de Maistre and Anaëlle Tourret at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama. In the academic year 2025/26, he is studying as part of the Erasmus scholarship at the CNSMDP in Paris with Isabelle Moretti and Geneviève Létang. Besides working with his current teachers, he has actively participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Catherine Michel, Maria Graf, Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Anneleen Lenaerts, and Alexander Boldachev.

In June 2025, he won the audition with the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg, and starting in September 2025, he will be an academy member at the Hamburg State Opera. He performs regularly both as a soloist and with orchestras. In 2021 and 2022, he appeared as a soloist with the Szent István Philharmonic. He played "Danse sacrée et profane" in the Great Hall of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest and subsequently toured with the orchestra. He was an invited artist at the International Harp Festival in Gödöllő, the Ars Sacra Festival in Budapest, and the International Mendelssohn Festival in Hamburg, performing several solo and chamber music concerts.

Tallós has been awarded at various harp competitions: He won the 1st prize in the U19 category and the Weininger Richárd Special Prize at the 5th International Harp Competition in Szeged, Hungary, in 2019. During the pandemic, he participated in online competitions and won the 1st prize (platinum medal) at the Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition 2021, as well as the gold medal in the U19 category at the 6th Hong Kong International Harp Competition. The Berenberg Foundation named him a scholar in 2026.

In his career, he strives to be a versatile artist. In addition to his concert activities, he composes his own works and creates arrangements. In his solo performances, he often plays his own pieces and aims to create accessible contemporary music for the harp to explore the instrument’s diverse possibilities. He participates in projects with exceptional aspects: In October 2022, his vision for a CD recording titled "WELTTANZ" earned him a finalist position for the Fanny Mendelssohn Förderpreis. Since February 2022, he has been working with the association "Yehudi Menuhin LIVE MUSIC NOW HAMBURG" to bring music closer to people living in social institutions. He is a "Star of Tomorrow" at the European Harp Symposium 2025, presenting an unusual program, including his own "Sonata pour harpe op. 6". At the request of his professor, Xavier de Maistre, he arranged the organ concerto HWV 293 Op. 4 No. 5 by G. F. Handel for harp. The piece is featured on de Maistre's new album "Händel."
